An ocean, a race and an adventure waiting to unfold. Six IMOCA boats set sail from New York to take on one of the great challenges: crossing the Atlantic bound for Lorient, France. Three thousand nautical miles lay ahead. This is The Ocean Race Atlantic, an opportunity to see what the teams and their boats are truly capable of.
Boats designed to sail at the limit, where every decision counts in the face of factors such as weather conditions, sea state and strategy over thousands of miles. For the first time in The Ocean Race, balanced participation between men and women was also required.
As the Atlantic becomes a battleground, Spain and, more specifically, Alicante, is preparing to host a major event in January 2027. All eyes will be on the starting point of one of the greatest sporting adventures on the planet.
It is The Ocean Race, the round-the-world sailing race. It will be the sixth consecutive time that the port of Alicante becomes a starting port. The first was in 2008 and the most recent in 2023, demonstrating its outstanding organisational capabilities.
