A passion, a feeling and a real challenge: this is what La Purito has become over the years.
In Andorra, summer is inconceivable without La Purito, the cycle tour that runs along its roads and mountain passes, conceived by cyclist Joaquim "Purito" Rodríguez.
This project was born with the intention of recreating an authentic leg-breaking stage, like the one that took place entirely in the country during La Vuelta 2015, and over time it has established itself as an essential reference point in the cycling calendar.
This year, La Purito celebrated its ninth edition, consolidating its position and gaining followers year after year. Cyclists from all over the world — from countries as diverse as Japan, Colombia and Costa Rica — participate with a common goal: to enjoy cycling in a unique environment.
The event offers three routes of varying difficulty: 30, 80 and 115 kilometres, the latter being the most challenging, with an impressive cumulative elevation gain of 4,800 metres.
Andorra's legendary mountain passes —Coll de la Gallina, La Rabassa, La Comella, Beixalís, Coll d'Ordino and Cortals d'Encamp— once again highlight the country's great cycling potential and the quality of this event, which this year attracted more than 2,100 participants.
